Working Title - The gothic style created by the partnership of director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp

I have decided to focus on the relationship of Tim Burton, as a director, and Johnny Depp, as an actor, and the gothic style created in their movies together. The films I have chosen to study are 'Edward Scissorhands (1990)', the pairs first collaboration, 'Sleepy Hollow (1999)', and 'Alice in Wonderland (2010)', the pairs latest film together. I have chosen these films because they are all 9-10 years apart from each other which will allow me to see the development in the gothic style created by Burton and Depp. I also chose 'Alice in Wonderland' as, because it is an adaptation, I can compare it and see how Burton has added his own style. My focus film will be 'Sleepy Hollow'. I chose this film as i believe that it is easily recognisable as a Tim Burton film and establishes the Relationship between director and actor.
